Obituary for Amy McGrath

Amy Beth McGrath was born on December 27, 1968 in Chicago, IL. She died on May 14th, 2020 at the age of 51 due to complications from COPD. She spent her childhood surrounded and loved by her mother the late Judy Murray (late Mike McGrath), her grandparents the late Peggy and Sam Beaumont, her sister the late Tammy Quigley (Mike), her aunt the late Carol Lechnowicz (Walter) and her cousins Jeff, Michelle and Johnny Lander. She attended Union Ridge Grade School and Ridgewood High School in Norridge. She married her high school sweetheart Fabio Lupo in 1986 and her son Anthony was born later that year. Amy had her daughter Alysa in 1991. She joined the Chicago Police Department in 1998 and served over 20 years with them. She met her long lost sister Michelle Sasso (Jerry) in 1998. She reconnected with high school classmate Kevin Smaga in 2010 and the two were inseparable ever since.

Amy was known for her kind and generous heart, always opening up her home to anyone who needed somewhere to go. She was a dedicated mother not only to her children, but to her children’s friends as well. Her granddaughter Ella was the light of her life and always made her feel better. She had an insatiable sweet tooth and loved her creamer with a little bit of coffee.

She is survived by her loving partner Kevin Smaga, son Anthony Lupo (Jenna), daughter Alysa Lupo, and granddaughter Ella Rae Lupo.
