Obituary for Consuelo Rojas

Consuelo Rojas, affectionately known as Chelo or Connie to most of us, was born February 19,1951 in Robstown, Texas to Ysabel and Maria Ovalle. She was second of eight children. Her mother taught her about God at an early age and made church part of their culture by attending mass on a regular basis.

She and her family eventually relocated to Bishop Texas where she graduated High School and then moved to Chicago Illinois. It is there where she met Jesse Rojas. After falling head over heels in love they married July 31, 1982. They enjoyed many years of marriage together until his untimely death in 1995.

Connie was gainfully employed at Field Containers for several years until 1992 when she later became a sales associate in the Health & Beauty Aid Department at Walmart. After long employment there, she retired in 2013.

She continued to strengthen her spiritual values by attending mass every Sunday when she could, as well as being a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus by keeping his commandments. Connie knew Jesus and was not afraid to speak with him regularly. Anyone who knew her was amazed at her unshakable faith and strong belief in the power of prayer.

Connie loved listening to her music. Some of her favorites were "Amazing Grace" by Elvis Presley, romantic ballets by Los Temerarios and Tex-mex music. She also enjoyed eating out with family and watching television. Her favorite TV programs were Westerns and CSI.

Although Connie had her own health challenges, she was strength to so many others. Her acts of kindness, guidance and words of wisdom still rings loudly in our hearts today.

Her father (Ysabel) two sisters, Gloria and Anabel proceeded her in death. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her mother, Maria Ovalle (Maywood); a brother Trinidad (Adela) of Irving Texas; sister Esperanza of Maywood IL; sister Estafana (Raul) Ramirez of Maywood; sister Carmen (Felipe) of Las Vegas Nevada; brother Samuel (Denise) of North Riverside IL. and her God children. She also leaves a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to celebrate her life.
